Wizards of the Coast’s new game development studio Skeleton Key has just made an interesting hire. As Hasbro teases Baldur’s Gate 4, sadly not made by Larian, Skeleton Key has officially hired Dragon Age: The Veilguard director Corrine Busche for an unannounced video game.

Revealed in an interview with (paywalled) Game File journalist Stephen Totilo, Skeleton Key has hired Busche to work on an unannounced title at the studio.

Speaking to Totilo, head of digital gaming at Wizards of the Coast Dan Ayoub confirmed the Dragon Age director has joined Skeleton Crew. However, the Hasbro executive did not state what game the director is working on.

In the last few weeks, reports have claimed that the Skeleton Key studio has already had one of its unannounced project cancelled. Ayoub explained that there have been minor layoffs at the studio which resulted in one project—an unannounced horror game—being shelved to focus on the team’s other game.

“We refocused the team,” Wizard’s head of gaming said. “There were basically two projects in development at the studio and we refocused the team on the other one.” According to Ayoub, the “vast majority” of developers that were working on the now-dead horror game have been moved to the other project.

As of right now, Skeleton Key founder and Dragon Age producer Christian Dailey is still at the studio, despite rumours.

In recent weeks, Hasbro has also been hyping up its plans for a new Baldur’s Gate game, claiming that the company wants to keep “raising the bar”. Skeleton Key has only been around for two years. With Larian’s very public statements about not wanting to make a fourth game being out in the wild for over a year at this point, the new studio could be working on the sequel, but it doesn’t seem likely.
