Diablo 4 fans have claimed that the game will have the “smoothest launch ever,” which contradicts every other Blizzard release in history. For those that have been long time fans of the company behind the Diablo series, it has long been a known fact that Blizzard often has rough opening days each time it’s made a AAA game available to the public.

From the abysmal Diablo 3 launch with its service and achievement system related issues to the Diablo 2 Resurrected opening day problem of having characters suddenly wiped from servers, numerous players have become largely familiar with Blizzard’s release date troubles. So with this in mind, the sudden positivity comes as a bit of a surprise since history indicates that the gaming gods are not on the players’ sides.

Based on a Reddit post from a user named thadowski, though, it seems that they’ve refused to acknowledge past launch fiascoes and are instead holding out hope that it will be different this time around. They go on to note in their message that there will be “no login issues, everyone gets in first try, no one gets booted.”

Of course, other fans were more skeptical as they’ve become used to having their hopes crushed with each passing Blizzard release day. However, most are apparently optimistic as the previous server slam event was fairly seamless and didn’t suffer from any issues. But it is important to keep in mind that its availability coincided with the launch of Tears of the Kingdom, which may have significantly driven a large number of players away.

With the Diablo 4 release date now here, we will soon find out if Blizzard has finally fixed their opening day issues of yore or if it will come back to haunt them once again.
