Destiny 2 Heresy Act 2 is set to begin very soon. While Bungie has announced 12 new weapons and an awesome mode for Act 3, fans should be just as excited for Act 2 thanks to what has been announced. Prior to the launch of the incoming update, here you will find some of what’s announced for the next Destiny 2 update including an exclusive new weapon, new modes, big nerfs, and more.

Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Act 2 new modes

The Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Act 2 update is scheduled for March 11th. One of the most exciting additions is the previously leaked boss rush mode, Court of Blades. Per Bungie’s latest TWID blog post, “Players will fight through arenas of enemies with escalating difficulty to compete for the mantle of the Taken King, using runes to uplift their playstyle and push through challenges”.

In addition, Guardian Games will return with the launch of Heresy Act 2 as well. This is introducing a new mode activity called Rushdown. This is a “boss rush-style activity where you’ll battle a series of bosses taken from Destiny 2’s campaigns, Seasonal story missions, and Exotic missions”.

There are five bosses in total for Rushdown, and each enemy increases in difficulty. There will be a time limit, and faster times will offer the “chance for more drops or higher quality loot”. Rewards you get will ultimately depend on your performance, and there will be criterias such as time completed and how many revive tokens you use. There will also be a Warm-up mode, as well as Standard and Expert.

Exclusive new Destiny 2 weapon

There will be a new Destiny 2 weapon exclusive to Guardian Games 2025. This is called Keraunios, and, per Bungie, it is a “new Arc Trace Rifle that can roll with some strong combos that fit very well in our Arc-centric Episode. Jolting Feedback? Check. Recycled Energy? Yep. Rolling Storm? Of course!”.

In addition to this weapon, there will also be snazzy new armor for each of the three classes Titan, Warlock, and Hunter. They look absolutely gorgeous, and you will be able to grab them from the Eververse store with Silver or Bright Dust.

Away from the Guardian Games, Heresy Act 2 will also include the “five remaining weapons from the Heretical Arsenal”. Bungie is dropping weapons with interesting perks such as “Sword Logic on a Strand Glaive,” and there will be Adept versions for each of these five weapons.

Nerfs for next D2 update

On February 27th, Bungie announced the following nerfs for Heresy Act 2 on the Destiny2Team X account:

We are currently planning a fix for players who did not receive the Redrix’s Estoc Competitive Pulse Rifle after completing their placement series.

We understand that this weapon shipped a little hot in the Crucible, so the following changes are also being planned for Act II:

  • Tuning Sword Logic Damage against players in PvP.
    • We will be adding this perk to more weapons in the future and need it to be in line with our other damage perk options in the PvP sandbox. This will not affect PvE efficacy.
  • Reducing the handling stat on Redrix’s Estoc.
  • Walking back some of the buff that Lightweight Pulse Rifles received in Destiny 2 Update 8153.
    • Note: These will still perform better than pre-buff. Just reducing the damage buff slightly to lower some of the forgiveness.

The above incoming nerfs have divided fans online, but it’s what’s planned for Act 2 as of writing.

New fix

Lastly, on the Destiny2Team X account, Bungie has announced a fix for the update arriving on March 11th. Bungie are “aware of an issue where the ‘Time Honored’ emblem, gifted with any purchase of Moments of Triumph items on the Bungie Store, is currently showing temporary art,” and a fix for this will be provided in patch 8.2.5.

For more Destiny 2, players are getting unreleased weapons no one is supposed to get yet, and leaks have revealed an “80% damage buff” perk and weapon pre-order bonus presumably for Apollo.
