Ambient Studios’ Kickstarter project Death Inc. failed to reach its funding goal last night. When the funding period ended the game had sadly made less than 50 per cent of its goal, with only £122,711 pledged towards a £300,000 target.

Death Inc. promised to let players guide Grim T. Livingstone, freelance reaper, through 1660’s England spreading fear, pestilence and the bubonic plague. The studio has stated that it still intends to make the game a reality.

“We would like to assure you all that you haven’t seen the last of Death Inc! We are working extremely hard to make this beautiful, bonkers, original game a reality for you all,” reads part of a post by the studio on the game’s Kickstarter page.

While Death Inc’s development is clearly going to have to be rethought, the studio has just released a finished game for the iPad. Monster Meltdown, a puzzler, is available now priced £1.49.
