Dead Island 2 has been delayed to April, showcase coming December 6

Upcoming first-person zombie action game Dead Island 2 is being delayed from its original February release, and will now arrive at the end of April.

The news was broken to fans on the game’s official Twitter account – which also tried to soften the blow by announcing a gameplay showcase it intends to hold next month.

“The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us,” the message from Dambuster Studios and Deep Silver reads. “And we are as disappointed as you undoubtedly are.”

“The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now. We’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch. For those of you who’ve been waiting for years, thank you for hanging in there with us.”

Dead Island 2 will now launch on April 28, 2023 – but before then, the game’s official YouTube and Twitch channels will hold a Dead Island 2 Showcase event on December 6. The team promises to show an “exciting new trailer” as well as gameplay at the event.

Dead Island 2 was re-revealed this past summer, finally resurfacing after languishing for several years in development hell, and being passed around several studios until its current incarnation.

The game will be set in the sunny climes of Los Angeles, and will promise plenty of bloody zombie fun, with co-op support too. We’ll get to see what else is in store, presumably, following the showcase in December.

Dead Island is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on April 28, 2023.
