NetEase Games has given up on Dead by Daylight Mobile, the smartphone version of Behavior’s popular asymmetric multiplayer game. After releasing on Android and iOS in 2020, the short-lived multiplayer game will be shut down with its cosmetics disappearing forever.
Dead by Daylight Mobile shut down
Following rumours earlier this year, Dead by Daylight Mobile will cease operations on March 20th, 2025. However, the game will be removed from the Google Play Store and iOS App Store as early as January 16th, 2024.
In a statement on the game’s website, Behavior Interactive explained that the team behind the mobile game is “deeply saddened” by its shutdown. The game’s shutdown was blamed on a shift in “development and operational strategies” at NetEase, although a low-player count may also be to blame.

“Dear People of The Fog, It’s with a heavy heart that we come to you today to share some difficult news regarding the future of Dead by Daylight Mobile,” the announcement reads. “Due to ongoing shifts in NetEase Games’ development and operational strategies, the decision has been made to end service for Dead by Daylight Mobile as of March 20th, 2025.”
A Gift For All
As the mobile game reaches end of life, Behaviour Interactive is planning a consolation package for players who make the shift from smartphone to PC or console. Available for any player of the mobile version, even if they already play the game on other platforms, the new “Welcome Package” is being released to compensate players.
“For those looking to make the switch, the team at Behaviour has prepared a Welcome Package to help compensate players for money spent and XP earned in Dead by Daylight Mobile,” the announcement reads.

“The entire team at Dead by Daylight Mobile would like to extend our most heartfelt appreciation to all the players around the world who supported our game, contributed to our community, and helped create countless unforgettable moments in the Fog,” the announcement concludes. “Your dedication and passion have meant the world to us.”
