Last week BeHaviour Interactive conducted a Dead By Daylight livestream for their upcoming 2v8 mode. This livestream also delved deep into Tome 20 and the arrival of Lara Croft, and it confirmed the release date of July 22nd for cross-progression. DBD cross-progression is finally here for consoles and PC, but the unfortunate news is that there’s a big caveat for Nintendo Switch.
As mentioned, last week’s livestream was a lot of fun. It confirmed the release date for 2v8 mode on July 25th, and it also confirmed the previously leaked release date for The Casting of Frank Stone, September 3rd. No other upcoming events/releases were featured, but from the anniversary stream earlier this year we know we are set to get a CastleVania chapter next.
We absolutely cannot wait for Dead by Daylight x CastleVania, as well as 2v8 mode and the DBD spin-off, The Casting of Frank Stone. But, before these arrive, we finally have cross-progression right now.
Dead By Daylight cross-progression step-by-step guide
Below is a step-by-step guide for how to implement cross-progression in Dead by Daylight:
- Create/sign into your BeHaviour account
- In game library select Dead By Daylight
- Click enable cross-progression
- Choose a platform
- Click Link account
- Sign into your PSN/Xbox/Steam/Epic/Nintendo profile
- Choose continue
You can check out the step-by-step guide video from BeHaviour in the embedded tweet below:
Per the official FAQ, it is only possible “to link & sync one platform account”. As an example, “this means you can have one Steam account, one Epic Games account, and one Xbox account synced, but you cannot have 2 Steam accounts synced”.
In addition to the above, the FAQ notes it is currently not possible to “unsync platforms from your BeHaviour account once you have synced accounts”.
Lastly, BeHaviour confirms that for character levels and perks the highest value will be carried over. So, “if Jake is level 50 on Steam, and level 3 on your Xbox, Jake will be level 50 on all the platforms you have synced”.
DBD cross-progression caveats for Nintendo Switch
Compared to the other platforms, there are some caveats in regard to Dead by Daylight cross-progression exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
As confirmed by the FAQ, you can share an accumulated total of Auric Cells on your BeHaviour account across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, but you cannot for Nintendo Switch. Per the FAQ, “For Nintendo Switch, Auric Cells will stay with the platform account and cannot be shared”.
Unfortunately, that’s not all. You can share DLC across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC back-and-forth, and you can also move DLC you own, for example, on PlayStation to Nintendo Switch. However, if you bought DBD DLC on Nintendo Switch, you cannot share it from your Switch profile to another platform.
This is really disappointing, but, reacting to the cross-progression details on Reddit, the community lays the blame at Nintendo rather than BeHaviour. There are many comments of disappointment and frustration such as “Damn we switch players catching several Ls” and “I’ve done the math and I’ve personally spent over 200$ on the switch for skins, characters, and the rift pass just to get a big f**k you in my face and not be able to transfer a good chuck of it to my PS5”.
It really is disappointing for Switch players, but again the issue presumably lies with Nintendo rather than BeHaviour. Nintendo Switch aside though, the addition of cross-progression is fantastic and something the community has anticipated for ages.
