DBD players celebrate latest update, as prestige tunneling will no longer be an issue

Tunneling is arguably one of, if not the most, frustrating killer strategies in DBD to face as a survivor. For players with Prestige level 100 characters, it becomes even more annoying because they often immediately get targeted at the start of a match. Or worse, some killers dodge a lobby completely upon seeing a highly-leveled survivor. Luckily, that won’t be happening anymore moving forward, thanks to Behaviour Interactive’s upcoming DBD update.

With its DBD update 8.2.0 PTB patch notes, Behaviour included the following change, “Prestige levels are no longer shown in the pre-game lobby.” The devs added in a separate note, “Seeing a high prestige level caused some players to feel intimidated and leave the lobby. This has a negative effect on matchmaking and discourages players from playing their favourite Survivors.” “They will remain visible after the match has ended so you can show off your accomplishments,” they finished.

Over on Reddit, some players, like ScarRude6104, are already celebrating the upcoming change because “now [they] can play without worry of being tunneled.” Make no mistake, though, this won’t eliminate the regular tunneling that survivors frequently have to face in certain matches, so there will likely continue to be complaints. But it does at least address a major issue that high-level characters often encounter.

You’ll also need to keep in mind that this DBD update won’t immediately be available. According to the devs, it will be headed to the Public Test Build “next week,” which means its actual release into the game remains to be seen.
