Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive has announced an upcoming crossover with animatronic horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s, slated for launch in 2025. However, since the collaboration is still a ways off, the dev team hasn’t revealed what it will bring into the game, so it’s unclear whether you can expect a Freddy Fazbear killer or mere themed cosmetics à la the Attack on Titan collection.
That said, Behaviour’s announcement post on X (formerly Twitter) has still elicited a ton of fanfare since nobody expected Behaviour to announce it a day before the DBD Castlevania PTB release date. Plus, a FNAF crossover had long been at the top of most players’ wishlists, hence the overwhelming positive reaction from the community. It’s also worth noting that the Dead by Daylight satisfaction surveys Behaviour has sent to players have always included Five Nights at Freddy’s as a possible collaborator, so a crossover was always in the realm of possibility.
Unfortunately, Fortnite fans aren’t quite as ecstatic since many had been expecting a partnership between Five Nights at Freddy’s and the Epic Games battle royale instead. Back in June, FNAF developer ScottGames said, “There is going to be something big released each day from August 1st to August 8th” to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary. So, since this date coincided with the conclusion of Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 3, a crossover seemed almost inevitable.
Of course, there’s always a chance that a Fortnite crossover with the beloved horror franchise could be waiting in the wings. But with Epic Games keeping mum so far, you’ll have to wait for an official announcement before you get your hopes up again.
