It’s been a long wait, but Day of Defeat Source (which as the name suggests is a port of Day of Defeat to the Source engine) is now available via Steam. The game was originally a multiplayer WWII mod for Half-Life and gained quite a following.

The biggest change to the game is the visuals. Rather than simply get the game up and running on Source (like Half-Life Source) the game has been revamped, with stunning visuals and HDR lighting. If you fancy a bit of team-based FPS action fire up Steam and get downloading. Non-Half-Life 2 Gold or Silver owners will be charged $19.99, but early impressions seem to indicate that it’s worth it.
