Dave Perry has released a video showcasing exactly what is possible using his new Gaikai server-based gaming technology. In the video Perry talks through a demo of several games, including World of Warcraft, Need for Speed ProStreet, Spore and Mario Kart 64.

The games are all running on a regular Windows Vista install with the latest Firefox and Flash installed. He also points out that the games are running on a low-spec server and the data travel distance is around 800 miles (round trip), giving a 21 millisecond ping.

Perry also pointed out that this is a tech demo and Gaikai will not be a portal service in the same way as the heavily publicised OnLive. Perry will license Gaikai to publishers who can then make their games playable in a web browser on whichever site they choose.

You’ll find more info, along with the video of Gaikai in action over on Perry’s blog.
