Dark Souls 2 got off to a pretty good start in Japan, selling 255,197 copies on PS3 during its opening week.

This, however, falls short of the first Dark Souls entry, which sold 279,567 units back in September 2011.

Dark Souls 2 launched in the UK last Friday and entered the video game chart at No.2 behind Titanfall.

In the hardware chart PS4 continued as top dog, but only by a narrow margin. PS4 shifted 29,677 units, ahead of PS Vita with 28,270 units, 3DS XL 23,372 units and PS3 with 14,128 units. Wii U sold 7,654 units.
