Cut the Rope 2, an entirely new game in the hugely successful mobile game franchise, will be released later this year, ZeptoLab has announced.

The game promises to re-imagine the universe of the series’ iconic star Om Nom, with new twists on gameplay, never-before-seen characters, interactive environments and a new story.

“Cut the Rope 2 is a massive step forward for the game,” said Misha Lyalin, ZeptoLab CEO. “Amazing graphics, gameplay and characters drive a brand new experience that fans are going to love.”

To date ZeptoLab’s games have surpassed more than 400 million global downloads, reaching 60 million active monthly users in the first half of 2013.

Cut the Rope: Time Travel, which was released earlier this year, has already reached more than 20 million downloads.

The release of Cut the Rope 2 will be supported with a new season of webisode series, Om Nom Stories.
