Codemasters has confirmed it’s working on a new shooter video game, with Stuart Black, the man behind Criterion’s 2005 FPS Black, heading up development.
The new title is currently in development at Codemasters’ Guildford studio using the in-house EGO engine (DiRT 2, Operation Flashpoint). A recruitment drive is about to begin at the studio, with an 80-strong team to be built around Black and two other industry veterans.
Former Game Director at Sony Computer Entertainment London Studio Tom Gillo has been signed up as executive producer, whilst Andrew Wilson, previously Senior Producer on Split/Second at Blackrock, becomes Senior Producer.
“With Stuart Black directing the vision for our new IP in production, deployment of EGO and key development figures heading up a highly skilled team, our Guildford facility offers great potential for development talent based in the South East who want to join a growing studio and work on original titles,” said VP of Codemasters development Gavin Cheshire.
It also appears that the next issue of Official PlayStation Magazine will feature a first-look at the title, promising “the world exclusive reveal of the shooter everybody asked for”.
