The current map pool of MW2 has often been subjected to the CoD community’s ire due to its lack of novelty and variety. Most locations within the game have frequently been labeled by players as recycled content that the developers keep peddling off as new inclusions.

Because of this, players have now started taking to Reddit to plead for the return of a few classic areas to the game. The latest request from the community this time revolves around the reintroduction of the Crossfire map to MW2.

For those unfamiliar, Crossfire was originally included in 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and again in 2016’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. This memorable map featured a main street area that was typically home to random gun fights and sniper battles. Surrounding the street on both sides were numerous buildings with several alleys that you could also use to flank the enemy.

Most players can’t help but reminisce about the old days since the maps that the current installment presents lack the design and meticulous detail that previous locations had. One user commenting under a popular post even stated that Crossfire is “basically non-sh*t border crossing,” referring to the notorious Santa Sena map.

Another response decided to poke fun at the content addition strategy of Infinity Ward by noting that if it were ever to be added, it would be introduced during “Season 8 Reloaded, when the new CoD comes out the week after.”

It remains to be seen whether or not these widely beloved locations will eventually be introduced into MW2’s lackluster map pool. Based on the recent content additions from the developers, however, I wouldn’t put too much faith in them bringing this one back.
