Activision Blizzard has announced it’ll hold a special Call of Duty Next event to reveal more on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s multiplayer, Warzone 2.0 and more.
The livestream next month is being touted as an “era-defining franchise event” showcasing the future of the Call of Duty series. Big promises then, but they’ve also got a lot to show to fans on the schedule.
Infinity Ward will be hosting the big show, which will feature a full reveal of Modern Warfare 2‘s multiplayer. There’ll be details of progression, modes and of course, live gameplay from the highly anticipated game.
If that wasn’t enough, we’re promised more information on “the next Call of Duty Warzone” (AKA Warzone 2.0). Plus, we’re told there’ll be new information on Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile to boot.
Activision Blizzard has also promised top streamers will play the game live at the event, and there’ll be “information and surprises” too. And yes, there’ll also be more chances to get in on that Modern Warfare 2 beta as well.
So there’s plenty to tune in for. Call of Duty: Next will take place on September 15. An exact time and how to watch will be announced closer to the date.
Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 – predicted release date
We’ve previously been told that Call of Duty Warzone 2 will be a new game, but an “extension of the existing universe”. It’ll feature new content, systems, progression and inventories, so sadly your Warzone 1 progress won’t carry over. However, the original Warzone experience as we know it will still be available too.
As for when we can expect Warzone 2.0, here’s what Infinity Ward has said so far. It’ll launch “soon after” Modern Warfare 2, though they’ve been careful not to give an exact date. Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28, and we’d be surprised if Activision didn’t want to get it out before the end of the year to capitalise on those all-important Holiday numbers.
Therefore, we expect Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 to launch around late November 2022. We’ll update should we get an exact confirmation.
