To begin, because I feel I have to preface the article with this. The headline is not a joke, and no, it’s definitely not April Fools Day. The news, which was first reported by The Telegraph, is sure to cause waves throughout Hollywood and around the world. The deal, a landmark moment for both the AI and acting industries, sees Willis as the first ever Hollywood actor to sell their likeness rights for use by another company.

As, while we have seen many promotional campaigns using the likenesses of some of the worlds most famous celebrities, such as Albert Einstein, Audrey Hepburn, and Charlie Chaplin, to name just a few. This is the first time that a living celebrity, a Hollywood actor especially, has ever sold their likeness rights for use by a company.

In a statement regarding the sale, Bruce Willis had this to say:

For me, it is a great opportunity to go back in time. With the advent of modern technology, even when I was on another continent, I was able to communicate, work, and participate in the filming. It’s a very new and interesting experience, and I thank our entire team.

This deal comes about after Willis’ daughter, Rumer, posted a letter from her family on March 30th 2022 underneath a candid photo of her father, wherein they explained that due to health issues impacting his cognitive abilities (now confirmed as being Aphasia), he would be stepping away from his career as an actor.

Then, in August of 2022, it was reported that an AI double of Willis, created by AI company, Deepcake, would be appearing in a series of commercials for Russian telephony and internet provider, MegaFon:
