SEGA has today announced that Let’s Tap, an innovative Wii title, will be the first game from Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka’s Prope development studio to be released in Europe and North America.

In Let’s Tap the Wii Remote is placed on a box or flat surface so that it can detect minute vibrations. Players then tap the box or surface to interact with the game.

“Let’s Tap offers a new and innovative way of playing on the Wii which only a video game legend such as Naka-san could have ever possibly imagined,” said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director SEGA Europe. “It’s such a simple yet genius concept and still easy to pick up and play, everyone will be tapping away before you know it!”

Let’s Tap will offer five game modes and enable up to four players to participate in multiplayer action. In Tap Runner players use differing finger tapping pressure to make simple stick figure racers run through an obstacle course. In Visualizer players are allowed to create dazzling firework effects and dramatic paint strokes amongst other effects as they tap out different rhythm patterns. Silent Blocks finds players taking turns removing blocks from a large stack, tapping too hard will result in a collapsing stack of blocks. Bubble Voyager allows players to fly through space, blasting obstacles and enemies in order to reach the far stretches of the universe, and Rhythm Tap allows players to tap in time to high energy music.

Let’s Tap will be released exclusively on Wii this summer.
