Publisher Playtonic Friends has announced Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince for launch this August on Switch and PC.

The RPG adventure is a follow up to 2017’s Blossom Tales, and will see the return of protagonist Lily. The Minotaur King has returned and kidnapped her brother, so it’s up to Lily to journey through haunted forests, pirate shores and more in a vast open world. Taking place in media res, your beloved Grandpa will be telling the tale of your adventure, narrating your quest as you go.

Just as with the last game, the adventure is a tribute to the classic SNES The Legend of Zelda RPGs, with similar mechanics. However, the team are also paying homage to classic adventure movies of the 80’s too, citing Labyrinth and The Princess Bride as inspirations. The game promises a wide array of weapons and abilities and tons of side quests to take on. There’ll also be a compelling main story, with choices that’ll influence how the narrative plays out and the events you’ll encounter.

You can check out a trailer for the game, which also showcases several of the adventure’s many bosses, below. Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince arrives on Nintendo Switch and PC on August 16.
