Black Ops 6 isn’t entirely out yet, but that hasn’t stopped developer Treyarch from nerfing one of the game’s deadliest weapons so far: the Jackal PDW. During the first beta weekend, the powerful full-auto SMG often wreaked havoc on lobbies with its fast fire rate and unfair damage-dealing capabilities. And, with players having already lodged complaints against it on social media, the dev team’s decision to tweak it doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
Treyarch announced the nerf through an X (formerly Twitter) post, in which they said, “Take a break from the Jackal PDW for a minute (it’s been tuned for weekend 2, btw), and equip the all-new Tanto .22 full-auto SMG at level 30.” If you want to see the exact changes, the developers have already released a complete list of patch notes, which you can check out here.
In addition to the weapon tweak, Treyarch revealed in the same series of posts that they’re “raising the level cap to 30.” This means you’ll get to access more “weapons, scorestreaks, perks, equipment, and beta rewards” as your rank goes up. Some of the new goodies you can expect include a Combat Axe melee weapon at level 24, the DM-10 semi-auto Marksman Rifle at level 25, and the Chopper Gunner scorestreak at level 29. You’ll also be able to play through a new 6v6 map called Babylon once the second beta weekend kicks off.
If you couldn’t enter last weekend’s pre-release period, don’t worry; the upcoming beta weekend is open to all, meaning you don’t need to have a code to join in on the fun. Just remember to mark your calendars and set your alarms for the start and end times because once it concludes, you’ll have to wait until the actual Black Ops 6 release date to jump back in.
