Bandai Namco has submitted trademarks for a collection of new titles with the word ‘Encore’ in them, suggesting that there could be remasters of classic games on the horizon (via Gematsu).

‘Encore’ is the descriptor given to the remasters of Bandai Namco’s Katamari Damacy and  Kotoba no Puzzle: Moji Pittan. Katamari Damacy Reroll is called Katamari Damacy Encore in Japan, and Kotoba no Puzzle: Moji Pittan Encore is releasing for Switch next spring. Trademarks for Klonoa Encore, Mr. Driller Encore, as well as Genpei Touma Den Encore, Splatter House Encore, and Wagyan Land Encore have been discovered. The Mr Driller Encore application even has a logo attached, which could mean an official announcement is coming soon.

It’s worth mentioning that these trademarks have been filed in Japan, and if they are reboots, they may not arrive in the West for a little while. Regardless of this fact, fans are jumping for joy at the prospect of a new(ish) Klonoa game, as he hasn’t been seen since the Wii remake of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile ten years ago. Additionally, a Splatter House remake and Mr Driller remake for Switch would join the ranks of the other classic games coming to the portable platform, though I think fright-fest Splatter House might be considerably less scary now than back then.

My take? I had never heard of Klonoa, but he looks very like a pet bunny rabbit we had when I was a child, therefore I love him.
