Bandai Namco has established a new studio, called Bandai Namco Aces, to produce more games in the Ace Combat series.

The new company is, intriguingly enough, a partnership between Bandai Namco and ILCA. That studio—whose name stands for “I Love Computer Art”—most recently made Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl.

According to its website (via VGC), ILCA worked on Ace Combat 7. And it is also working on “next-generation projects using Unreal Engine 5.”

Takuya Iwasaki will be the CEO and president of the new developer—he was previously the CEO and president of ILCA. Iwasaki said, of the new development:

“With the cooperation of Bandai Namco, we would like to pass on the knowledge we have cultivated so far to a new generation in order to further evolve this series that remains in the history of games.

“The whole team will do their best to give back to Namco, which I have been admiring since I was a child, so I would appreciate your support. Come young, to the sky!”

We know that there is a new Ace Combat game currently in development. Last year, series producer Kazutoki Kono said, in a live stream:

“We’ve started work on a new project in the Ace Combat series. Project Aces staff will of course continue to be involved in the development of this new project, but as we celebrate 25 years and three million copies sold, we’ve come to understand we have many fans of all tastes. Our small team can’t handle it all alone, so we’re looking to expand the Ace Combat team in a big way.”
