Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most popular RPGs of all time with a player count that’s actually rising after its launch year. While the game immediately exploded in popularity after the reveal of its bear smut scene, one of the voice actor’s behind the game’s Tav protagonist had no idea how freaky these scenes would be.
Baldur’s Gate 3 romance scenes surprised Tav actor
Speaking at MCM Comic Con Birmingham, transcribed by The Gamer, Baldur’s Gate 3 Tav actor Neil Roberts revealed that he didn’t know how down-and-dirty the game’s romance scenes would be. As one of two Tav voices for the game, Roberts was taken by surprise at the level of the game’s sauciness.
Roberts revealed that it wasn’t until the game’s release that he discovered the true nature of the game’s romantic encounters. “When I recorded [voice lines for the game] I didn’t do any of the [grunting]”, Roberts told fans.
The voice actor also explained that he was surprised by the level of detail in the character creator, saying: “Forming your bodily parts, I was quite shocked, I had no idea.”
Roberts explained that all of the game’s raunchy scenes had moans, groans and the like recorded by a “specialist”. Different characters had different actors for their romantic sounds. For example, Karlach’s actress Samantha Béart also didn’t record their own sounds.
Since release, many players have adored the game’s romance scenes with the game’s adult nature really speaking to its mature audience. With romance scenes allowing players to even bone down with the squid-faced Mind Flayer Emperor, these raunchy scenarios give players more freedom than the vast majority of games.
