Team Asobi’s amazing PlayStation platformer Astro Bot is adding a swathe of new content for free this Fall. After the game’s massive launch, the platformer will come with ten new bots to rescue, including some amazing cameos.
Astro Bot’s new Speedrun Mode
Coming this Fall, the Astro Bot speedrun mode will bring five new challenge maps to the platformer for no additional cost. These new maps will encourage players to try their absolute hardest to get the fastest time possible.
If the mode is similar to its predecessor in Astro’s Playroom, players will be able to see their friends times every time they complete a map. There may even be new trophies for players to unlock, but that isn’t confirmed at the time of writing.

While there are only five new maps coming for the speedrun mode, Team Asobi is working on additional content for the game. Unfortunately, there are no new details for any more upcoming content.
What crossover bots are coming?
In the announcement, Team Asobi revealed that new cameo bots are coming to Astro Bot. With ten new bots to rescue, at least a few of these will be based on PlayStation characters.
The reveal trailer shows Eve, the protagonist from Stellar Blade, chugging sodas in the game’s hub world. Alongside Eve, players will be able to unlock the iconic Helldivers from Helldivers 2. Unfortunately, we don’t know what other bots will be unlockable in the new free update.
As one of the best platformers in modern years, any additional Astro Bot content is welcome.
