Astral Chain is set to release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch later this year, and it seems if the game's director has their way, it'll be the first part of a trilogy.

Speaking in an interview with IGN Benelux and translated by Silconera, PlatinumGames' Takahisa Taura said in response to a question about extra content that there would not be any, but instead rather the game is planned to be the first part of a trilogy. Of course, the release of the subsequent games will entirely depend on the sales success of this first game.

Announced back in February, the game's director has previously cited Ghost in the Shell as one of its major influences. We'll see if those trilogy dreams come to pass when Astral Chain releases exclusively on Nintendo Switch on August 30.
