AC Shadows sells more copies in a week than Outlaws did in 3 months

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been one of the biggest and most talked about releases of 2025 so far. In our review, we praised the game’s undeniable beauty, as well as its fun gameplay, gripping story, and impressive open-world. Ubisoft has recently thanked fans for helping the game reach a milestone of more than two million players, and it’s now been revealed that AC Shadows is the biggest physical launch in the UK this year, where it has sold more copies in a week than Outlaws achieved in three months.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is biggest physical launch for 2025

On X, Christopher Dring, the head of gamesindurty.biz, has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is “the biggest UK game launch this year”. This is in regard to “physical sales,” but there’s no further elaboration of anything between PS5 and Xbox.

Most surprisingly, Dring revealed that AC Shadows’ physical sales in the UK are “comfortably ahead of Monster Hunter Wilds”. In addition, it’s revealed that the newest AC installment “sold more boxed copies in 1 week than Star Wars Outlaws managed in 3 months”.

However, while “comfortably ahead” of Monster Hunter Wilds, and performing much better than Star Wars Outlaws, Shadows is “well short of 2020’s Valhalla”.

While Star Wars Outlaws is highly-recognized as a flop, AC Shadows outselling Monster Hunter Wilds is impressive, albeit even just in the UK and in regard to physical sales only. Although it’s recognized that the boxed sales are behind Valhalla, this makes sense as, with every passing year, more people have begun purchasing their games digitally from platforms such as the PSN, Microsoft store, and Steam. In addition, Valhalla was also on PS4 and Xbox One, whereas Shadows is exclusive to current-gen only.
