Arc Raiders update 1.2.0 recently came out, and it has left fans divided over a stealth nerf to Security Breach. On the game’s official Discord, Embark confirmed the nerf after suspicions from the community, and they’ve stated that they are exploring the possibility of a “skill reset mechanic” in the future for fans who are upset about the downgrade.
As for why the nerf happened, community manager, Embark Ossen, stated they “adjusted the security lockers because they were over-providing valuable items”. The community manager also stated that the adjustment was “missed in the patch notes,” and that lessons have been learned following feedback from the community.

Ossen’s explanation received over 300 clown emojis plus over 100 skulls and nearly 200 laughing emojis. This suggests the community on Discord isn’t entirely thrilled, but on Reddit it seems more split as some are upset about the nerf while others believe it was necessary but are upset it was omitted from the patch notes.
Whether you’re in favor of the nerf or not, some fans are fuming about the perk being nerfed after grinding for so many hours to unlock it. Because of this, Embark is “exploring the possibility of adding a skill reset mechanic” as “Balancing is important” and in the future “both overperforming and underperforming skills will be adjusted”.

There’s no mention of when “a skill reset mechanic” could be added, but at least it’s something Embark are exploring. The developer is continually listening to feedback from fans, and hopefully this is something that will continue into the game’s first full year.
Arc Raiders has only been out for less than a month, but it has already sold over four million copies to become Nexon’s biggest ever release. Its 24-hour peak player count has also begun beating Battlefield 6 on Steam, and the devs have teased “ambitious plans” for 2026.
