A new squad-based action game in the Aliens universe is on the way in the form of Aliens: Dark Descent.

This singleplayer outing was announced at the Summer Game Fest last night. The game promises an original story set in the iconic sci-fi universe. Players will take command a squad of marines and face them off in real-time combat against the Xenomorph hordes. You’ll be responsible for recruiting Marines, tooling them up and customising your squad before missions. When your squad is on the ground, you’ll be gathering resources to fix up your stranded spacecraft and hunting for upgrades for your crew.

The game is developed by Tindalos Interactive, a Paris based studio who previously worked on PC exclusives Battlefleet: Gothic Armada and its sequel. Strategic planning and careful movement will be the order of the day, but be careful. We’re told that the enemies will adapt their tactics in order to respond to your actions. That ought to keep you on your toes, along with an all new enemy we get a brief glimpse at in the trailer.

You can check out the game’s first mood setting reveal trailer below, with a snippet of gameplay at the end. Aliens: Dark Descent is aiming for a 2023 release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 & PC.
