Reports have come to light revealing that adventure series A Plague Tale will be getting its own TV series.

The news comes by Allocine (as spotted by Eurogamer) who claim the project is underway at Merlin Productions in France. Director Mathieu Turi is already attached to the series. He’s worked as an assistant director on movies such as Inglourious Basterds and Lucy. Turi would confirm the news on his own Twitter account.

It transpires that the game’s creators had the opportunity to sell the rights to a US production. Instead, those in charge made the decision to keep production in France. This was partially to remain true to the game’s Medieval France setting and of the game’s home. (As developer Asobo is based in Bordeaux.) There’s no word on casting or a production schedule for the A Plague Tale TV series at this early stage.

Meanwhile, the original A Plague Tale: Innocence arrived back in 2019 and tells the story of Amicia and Hugo. We follow the pair as they’re forced to escape a brutal disaster that effects their family, only to get caught up in the middle of the black plague. Indeed, we very much enjoyed our time with the game, you can check out Josh’s verdict over here.

A sequel, A Plague’s Tale: Requiem, was revealed back in June. Hopefully it should be with us at some point later this year on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
