A free-to-play version of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to a Gematsu report.

The game is alleged to have been revealed in this week’s issue of Famitsu and said to be similar to PS3’s Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate: Core Fighters, a free digital version of the 2012 fighter that provides access to a selection of characters and the majority of game modes. Additional characters and modes are available to purchase separately as DLC.

In addition, Famitsu is also alleged to have revealed a February 19 release date for the full version of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round in Japan. Both free and premium players are said to be able to compete against each other regardless of which version they pick up.

Koei Tecmo was unable to provide comment at the time of writing.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round launches in the UK in spring 2015, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions both promising 1080p/60fps visuals.
