Eat Sleep Play founder David Jaffe has denied reports that he and his team are working on a new Twisted Metal game.

Despite a previous denial from Jaffe, industry analyst Michael Pachter revealed on GameTrailer’s Bonus Round that the game is very much coming, calling the title “Jaffe’s Twisted Metal 2 game”.

Questioned by host Geoff Keighley, Pachter added: “Whatever it’s going to be called. Sorry Jaffe. Jaffe called me his bitch the last time I saw him, so bitch that Jaffe.”

However, it turns out that Pachter was just joking.

Posting on Twitter, Jaffe explained: “Amused & surprised people not seeing Pachter’s comment as the joke it was.”

He added: “Pachter was joking on all fronts. He’s a great guy and I like him a lot. He’s one of the good ones for sho.”

That’s not to say Twisted Metal isn’t coming from another studio.

“Not privy to Sony’s slate. I just know that Eat Sleep Play is not making a Twisted Metal game,” said Jaffe.

This ‘is it, isn’t it’ pantomime will hopefully come to an end in a few weeks when Sony and the rest of the gaming world take to LA for E3 2010.
