One very good news for World of Warcraft players who have, in the past, thought to themselves how cool it would be if they had the ability to recraft gear. With the addition of the first season of Dragonflight, the game’s newest expansion, that’s been made possible. Well, kind of.

See all of this is made possible because of new systems introduced in Dragonflight, such as crafting orders, profession specialization, and, of course, recrafting. Keep in mind, however, that this is recrafting and not un-crafting, which means you won’t be dismantling the equipment to get the crafting material back.
Technically speaking, there are two ways to recraft in Dragonflight, and we’ll be going through both of them in detail.

1: Having Your Item Recrafted
If you’ve ever placed a crafting order in Dragonflight, then you’ll already have a basic idea of how to place a recrafting order too. If not, then don’t worry as it’s as straightforward as it gets.
The first thing you’ll want to do is go to a crafting station. These can be found in multiple places, but for now, let’s take Artisan’s Market of Valdrakken (at the coordinates 34.00 61.00) as our example.
You make your way there and interact with the crafting order NPC, giving you the crafting menu. At the top left corner, you’ll see an option to start a recrafting order, which you’ll click and then choose the item you want to be recrafted.

Now all you’ll have to do is select any optional reagents you want to be added to your recrafted item, as well as the minimum quality it should be (As well as any note or tip you want to include), before paying the required materials. Although the material you need to provide differs depending on the item you’re recrafting, one thing that remains constant is Artisan’s Mettle.
2: How to Recraft Your own Item
Now that you know how to have your item recrafted by placing a recrafting order, there’s also the option to recraft your item yourself in Dragonflight. To do this, first, open your profession window by selecting spellbook and then professions from the bottom bar.

Under the professions tab, you’ll see the option to recraft equipment, which you’ll have to equip. From here it’s all pretty self explanatory, as all you’ll have to do is select the item you want to recraft, the optional reagents, and then the required materials before pressing the confirmation button and having your item recrafted.
What are Optional Crafting Reagents
Optional crafting reagents are items that can be applied to crafted gear or weapons to select the secondary stats of an item, add bonus abilities to an item, or change the item’s overall item level. Granted, of course, that you have unlocked the ability to use an optional reagent through your specialization trees.

Final Thoughts
Although having your item recrafted by placing a recrafting order is a much longer method than simply crafting it yourself, if your class doesn’t specialize in crafting then it’s really the only option you have to ensure the quality of the recrafted equipment or weapon.
