Although so much new content has been added to the massive MMORPG that is WoW with the first season of the newest expansion Dragonflight having just dropped, one thing that remains the same is that the rogue class is one of the coolest ones in the game.

After all, who wouldn’t want to sneak around taking out enemies without them even knowing what hit them? At least this is how it is against computer controlled mobs and enemies. Playing against other players is a completely different story.

Subtlety

Although the subtlety spec for rogues is one of the best ones in regular raids, quests, and boss battles, it doesn’t hold up nearly as well in PvP. There are many reasons for this, but the biggest one is that its sustained damage is basically non existent.

Additionally, this spec relies way too much on teammates to stay alive, and although you’ll have teammates most of the time in PvP matches, having to rely on them constantly will be too limiting for most players.

Finally, not only is the chances of them dying extremely high after getting stunned or rooted once, but their defensive abilities have a significantly high cooldown, which cancel out the excellent control and utility this spec provides players.

Assassination

While the assassination rogue spec is excellent in its own right, we believe PvP battlegrounds is where these champions are truly able to shine. This spec offers very good abilities that are able to dish out high damage, as well as a variety of DoT abilities.

The biggest advantage this spec gives players is the adaptability the unique skill tree offers. Because of it, regardless of what battlegrounds throws at you, you’ll still have a decent chance of coming out victorious.

With that being said, single target damage is where this rogue spec really shines. Because of this, it’s recommended that you have a partner or two with you at all times to back you up if you come against a large number of enemies at once.

Outlaw

By far the best rogue spec for both PvP arenas as well as PvP battlegrounds is the outlaw spec. If assassination is good for its single damage abilities, then outlaw is twice as good because it offers players both powerful single damage as well as cleave damage abilities.

Not only do players have a variety of different types of abilities to choose from, but they’re also able to coordinate with pretty much any other character, may they be healers or DPS. Pair yourself with a good discipline priest and fury warrior, then add the massive damage abilities you get into the equation, and you’ll pretty much be unstoppable in both PvP arenas and battlegrounds.

Final Thoughts

The rogue class is one that’s generally pretty good when it comes to PvP, and because of that you can perform good regardless of what spec you have. However, the chances of you claiming victory is the highest if you go with the outlaw spec.
