Remember back in the day when the Minecraft aquatic update is released, everyone was so hyped about the new underwater world, along with new features, mobs, items, and enchantments. Impaling is one of them, and in this article, we will show you what impaling do in Minecraft!

What Does Impaling Do in Minecraft

Impaling is a Minecraft enchantment that can be added to a trident. With the clear purpose of this new weapon – to hunt sea creatures easier – impaling amplify this effect greatly by adding more damage to the trident whenever you attack any aquatic mobs.

You can only put impaling on the trident and not on any other weapons such as swords, axes, bows, or crossbows.

What Mobs Are Affected by Impaling Enchantment?

Aquatic mobs in Minecraft include axolotl, cod, dolphin, elder guardian, guardian, pufferfish, salmon, squid, tadpole, tropical fish, and turtle. The list above is exclusive to only Minecraft Java Edition.

Because there is no aquatic mob tern in Minecraft Bedrock Edition, impaling in BE actually does more damage to any mobs that stand underwater.

How Many Level Impaling Has

Impaling has a maximum of 5 levels, which you can get from enchanting the trident in the enchanting table. Or to combine an already enchanted trident with the Implaing book, or another trident with impaling enchantment.

Each level of impaling adds 2.5 damage to the trident. This additional damage affects both melees and ranged damage of the trident. With Impaling V, you can deal up to 21.5 damage to aquatic mobs.
