Axolotls are the new passive mob that was added in the Minecraft 1.17 update. Categorized in the aquatic mob, it’s surprising that Axolotls can help you fight other aquatic mobs! They’re also super cute and can be used for decoration purposes, that’s why many Minecrafters want to tame and breed Axolotls in Minecraft!
Let’s see how can you raise Axolotls in Minecraft!
What Do Axolotls Eat in Minecraft?
Axolotls in Minecraft only eat buckets of tropical fish. Because in real life, Axolotls only eat living fish, so the Tropical Fish food item in Minecraft is considered as a dead form of tropical fish.
To feed or breed Axolotls, you need to craft a bucket, which will require 3 Iron Ingots. When you have the irons, follow the recipe above to craft one.
Next, you need to find living tropical fish. They spawn underwater in the Mangrove Swamp, Lukewarm Ocean, Deep Lukewarm Ocean, Warm Ocean, and Lush Caves biome. Tropical fish tend to spawn in a group of 8 fishes.
When you’ve found a group of tropical fish, use a Bucket of Water and right-click on a water source block with a tropical fish. It may be tricky at first and you often get a normal Water Bucket. But after a little bit of training, you can catch those fish easily.
Additionally, you can trade 5 Emerald with the Wandering Trader for a Bucket of Tropical Fish (In case you can’t catch the fish naturally).
