In keeping with Devolver’s spread of existing and upcoming indie games, The Plucky Squire is a snappy affair and you won’t need to set aside dozens of hours to hit the credits. You’re roughly looking at between 6 and 12 hours to wrap up Jot’s entire adventure, depending on your playstyle and desire to hoover up all the collectables on offer. We’ll walk you through how long it will take you to beat the game.
How long is The Plucky Squire
Run type | How long to beat |
---|---|
Speed run | 6 – 8 hours |
Regular playthrough | 8 – 10 hours |
Completionist run | 10 – 14 hours |
A typical runthrough will take most players between 8 and 10 hours. The game is extremely linear and follows a fixed story with no add-on quests or optional content. If you stick to the story at a normal pace, it shouldn’t take you any longer to see the credits roll.
For speedier players, the game can be completed in anywhere from 6 to 8 hours, but this means very little exploration of areas for collectables or potential secrets and skimming through the dialogue, of which the game has plenty. It’s good stuff, so we do recommend reading through everything for a complete experience.
Lastly, completionists aiming for all the trophies and achievements will want to set aside anywhere from 10 to 14 hours to wrap up The Plucky Squire. Most of this additional time will be spent replaying chapters to seek out Glitchbirds and Art Scrolls (delightful little concept art pieces that highlight the development process), the game’s two collectable types. You’ll also need a second playthrough on the other difficulty level, though you can get through it in 4 hours by blitzing through the story.
As always, your mileage will vary depending on which difficulty setting you go for and your experience with these types of games. But you shouldn’t expect to invest any more than a dozen or so hours to complete the game and get all the trophies.
