  • Energy Activator is a late-game item used to increase the Module Capacity of your Descendant.

You have several methods to boost your favourite Descendants in the late game of The First Descendant. The main way to do it is to improve your mod capacity to include even more powerful modules. That’s where you have to get your hands on an Energy Activator. There are only two ways to get them, each with its drawbacks, so you have to be sure you want to use them on a specific character.

How to get Energy Activators

The main way to get Energy Activators is to research them in Albion by speaking to Anais. On the Research screen, head over to the Enhancement Materials tab and you’ll see the recipe. The item has some steep requirements, in addition to needing 750,000 gold and having a research time of 30 hours. Besides that, you’ll need the following materials:

MaterialAmount neededSource
Low-Carbon Activator55Drops from monsters in Kingston, Fallen Theater: Vulgus Strategic Outpost (normal) mission
Conductive Metallic Foil25Looted from Encrypted Vaults and Encrypted Storage Boxes
Heat Plasma Battery55Drops from monsters in Hagios missions, The Haven and Old Mystery (both difficulties)
Polyatomic Ion Particle72Drops from monsters in all missions in The Fortress region
Energy Activator Blueprint1Looted from Amorphous Materials

As you can see, getting an Energy Activator is pretty expensive and time-consuming. Therefore, make sure that when you get one, you use it on a character that you would like to push to become more powerful. You can go for the best meta builds, or choose the one you enjoy playing the most.

Buying Energy Activator from the Shop

Alternatively, you can buy an Energy Activator from The First Descendant’s in-game store. Be warned that the price is pretty steep, costing 1200 Caliber which roughly equates to about $25. Be sure that’s the path you want to take before committing to spending real-life cash on this item.

How to use an Energy Activator

The main purpose of Energy Activators is to increase the Module Capacity of the Descendant you apply them to. When you use an Energy Activator on a character, they will get +20 to their Module Capacity. This will let you add even more mods to upgrade your build. Paired with Crystallization Catalysts, you can make your maxed-out Descendant even more powerful.

In order to use an Energy Activator, you have to go to your Inventory, then click on the Descendant Module on the bottom left side of your screen. Then, click on the Module Additional Settings button on the right side of the screen. Select the Max Capacity Up option, which will then let you apply the Energy Activator to raise your Module Capacity.
