The islands of Alterna will test your abilities again and again in Splatoon 3. One of the second island’s earliest missions is Absorbency And You, and it presents both movement puzzles and a combat gauntlet that will allow you to try out some powerful new gear. You won’t be able to splat walls to climb them in Splatoon 3’s Absorbency And You and must rely on sponges to traverse the level.
We’ll walk you through this Splatoon 3 mission and help you get the drop on the Octarian menace lying in wait.

Splatoon 3 – Absorbency And You
This mission offers a choice between your Hero Gear and two incredibly powerful pieces of kit. The Dualie Squelchers are dual pistols with a rapid rate of fire and a built-in dodge roll, granting you great maneuverability and excellent damage. But the best weapon for this mission is arguably the Bamboozler. This long-range ink rifle allows you to deal huge single-shot damage and pick off distant enemies, which will come in handy during Splatoon 3’s Absorbency And You level.
Once your gear is selected, proceed to the jump pad to begin the level proper. After the jump, move forward and shoot the sponge in front of you to cause it to absorb ink and grow to an incredible size. Swim up the sponge before it shrinks, then get into cover.
There are several turrets and patrolling Octarians here, but the bamboozler will help you pick them off one-by-one. Splat the closest couple of Octarians, then fill the nearby sponge with ink. If enemy ink hits a sponge it will shrink by one size, forcing you to shoot it yourself to re-grow the platform.
Climb the sponge, blast the Octarian on this ledge, and break the orange crate to receive some armor and the Tenta Missiles super weapon. With the armor and missiles equipped, drop off the ledge and cross to the sponge opposite, climbing it when the sponge is full.
Splat the Octarians on the upper level, proceed to another sponge and climb this one too. Move around each corner of this platform, taking out the four Octarians as you go, before climbing the final sponge on this island to reach the next jump pad.
Splatoon 3 Absorbency And You – Climbing The Tower
At the second island, fill the first sponge in front of you with ink, then climb it and ink the second sponge to create a stairway. Swim to the top and ink a sponge in front of you for cover. Use the Tenta missiles you acquired earlier to take out all the Octarians clustered nearby.
Acquire more armor from the orange crates to the left of this platform, then move around the corner to the right to splat more Octarians.
With the Octarians dispatched, climb the small sponge, then shoot the second sponge on this platform to create a tower to climb. At the top, splat the Octarian across the gap with the bamboozler, then fill the horizontal sponge in front of you with ink to create a bridge. Cross the bridge and activate the final jump pad.
Octarian Assault
You’ve arrived at Absorbency And You’s final island, and it’s a straight shot to the finish, with only a gauntlet of Octarians standing between you and the goal. Climb the sponge tower ahead of you, splat the three Octarians lying in wait, and then ink up another sponge on the right for cover.
Move forward, take out one more Octarian and break the orange crate to your left. This will contain a Trizooka super weapon, allowing you to take out most of the remaining Octarians.
After using the Trizooka, use the Bamboozler on any remaining enemies as you move forward. Fill up the final sponge, swim to the top and you’ll have reached the goal, completing Splatoon 3’s Absorbency And You.
