An up-close brawler with a reliable pool of HP and a huge damage potential, Rabbid Mario is one of the characters whose build can come online earliest thanks to a straightforward skill tree. Investing heavily in The Dukes – Rabbid Mario’s combat gauntlets – boosts this character’s damage output significantly, dealing a larger number of blows with greater critical hit potential. In the early game especially, Rabbid Mario is more than capable of taking out groups of bunched-up enemies all by himself.

Mario may not initially be an offensive powerhouse on the level of his Rabbid counterpart, but he offers a flexibility few characters can match. The ability to split his shots between multiple foes allows you to maximize the number of combatants you are taking off the field each turn, and later perks in Mario’s skill tree allow you to buff this ability, gaining more damage on the second shot when a foe is felled on the first. Mario’s Stomp ability is also a unique way of putting out more damage per round.

Both Mario and Rabbid Mario like to get up close with their foes – Mario to utilize his damaging Stomp movement ability, and Rabbid Mario to unleash the power of The Dukes. While Mario can often return to safe ground with a well-timed glide, the only downside of putting Rabbid Mario on your squad is that enemies can quickly surround him without proper planning.

Given the others’ up-close nature, Rabbid Luigi’s debuffing skills are key to making this party comp work. His wide-ranging weakness debuff drastically reduces foes’ damage potential and can also increase the damage they take when upgraded right. And Rabbid Luigi’s primary fire allows you to keep on the offensive, chaining between multiple enemies, often finishing off those that Rabbid Mario couldn’t quite take down.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope Team Comp – Ranged Defense

Luigi is Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope’s biggest one-shot damage dealer. But Luigi actually performs at his best on the opponent’s turn. His Steely Stare ability deals boosted damage to any enemies moving within his extensive range, and it can be modified to gain multiple shots and a cover-piercing effect. Luigi can pick off most foes with a single shot but effectively becomes a rapid-fire turret with steely stare, wreaking havoc on any enemies attempting to move to a new position.

Peach’s team barrier is an exceptionally impactful ability in any Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope team comp. Here, it helps shore up Luigi’s limited health pool, as well as providing Edge some cover to get in close and tee up her powerful counter. Peach’s Boombrella also deals decent damage on a wide arc, nicely complementing Edge’s multi-hit attacks and picking off several foes at once.

Edge is a versatile and powerful hero. Her multiple dashes afford her great range, able to close with enemies and deal huge melee damage, even before using her primary fire. With enemies nearby, Edge can dash, use the galactic blade to damage multiple foes, and activate stormblade mode to counter anyone still alive within her range. She has a large amount of HP to soak up hits, and with the additional aid of peach’s team barrier, she can run right up to opponents and dish out high damage without suffering serious reprisal.

Team Comp – Heal and Harm

Rabbid Peach is easily one of the most powerful members of any team comp in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. A squad’s survivability is drastically boosted thanks to her incredible healing potential, both in terms of her quickly refreshing area heal, and her once-per-turn healing jump further along the skill tree. And while Rabbid Peach’s damage potential can be lacking compared to other heroes, her primary fire ignoring partial cover should not go overlooked, allowing you to finish off softened-up enemies.

As such a powerful long-range character, Luigi’s movement abilities can also easily go overlooked. But his multiple team-jumps, unlocked early in the skill tree, ensure that he’ll never be separated from the squad, shoring up a potential weakness of his ranged play. It’s exceptionally easy for Luigi to group back up with close-range characters that have been pushing ahead, while he sits back and picks off foes.

Mario supplements any squad he is part of with versatility and damage, capable of taking out multiple foes per round with his blasters and hero’s sight. The excellent recharge of a fully buffed hero’s sight means that enemies can almost never feel safe moving within Mario’s range. And his ability to dart in and out of firing distance with jumps, stomps, and glides ensures that Rabbid Peach isn’t scrambling to constantly patch him up.
