Best Gunslinger build in Remnant 2
The best Gunslinger build is as follows:
- Gunslinger Skill – Bulletstorm
- Dual Archetype – Hunter
- Dual Archetype Skill – Hunter’s Mark
- Long Gun – Huntmaster M1
- Handgun – Enigma
- Melee – Spectral Blade
This build demolishes bosses in combat thanks to its incredible burst damage potential. While we’ve chosen the Huntmaster M1 as it’s easily available from Brabus’s shop, you can use any rifle with high damage. Gunslinger’s Bulletstorm skill makes up for the Huntmaster M1’s slow fire rate, as the skill increases fire rate by 20% and reload speed by 50% for 20 seconds, as well as making it fully automatic.
With a faster fire rate, make Hunter your secondary archetype, choosing the Hunter’s Mark skill, which lets you deal huge damage. It applies the MARK debuff to all enemies within 35m, increasing crit chance by 15%, as well as increasing your base damage by 15%, too. Combining these two abilities, you’ve effectively got a high damage, automatic rifle, and you can easily deal huge amounts of damage to bosses with this.
Equip the Huntmaster M1 with a Hot Shot weapon mod to add even more damage, increasing your damage by 15% and burning your targets for additional damage over time. While you can use any Mutator with this weapon, the Battery is a great choice, as this will increase your Weakspot Hit damage, bringing that DPS up even higher. Other potential weapons are the MP60-R or Nightfall guns.
Alex’s Advice
The key to this build is hitting massive weak spot damage. Don’t rush things, and instead take the time to line up your shots. The extra second it takes will be worth it for the huge increase in DPS you’ll get from it.
The Long Gun is the focus of this build, making good use of Gunslingers perks, and especially his prime perk, so you can choose whatever Handgun and melee you prefer. We’ve chosen the Enigma and Spectral Blade, as these offer great crowd control that the Huntmaster M1 lacks, letting you more effectively deal with mobs. Any melee weapon works for this build, as you’ll usually be killing any enemies before they can get to close range thanks to the massive ranged damage.
When it comes to amulets, we’ve chosen the Inert Overcharger, as it increases fire rate and reload speed on top of that given by the Bulletstorm skill, though we think any amulet can work well with this build. The same goes for rings and relic fragments – focus on anything that can increase your damage, crit damage, fire rate, or reload speed, and you’ll be good to go.
Lastly, it doesn’t have too much bearing on the build, but the Gunslinger’s Ammo Reserves Archetype Trait is always handy to have, increasing the total amount of ammo you have.
How to unlock the Gunslinger in Remnant 2
If you pre-ordered the game, then you’ll already have the Gunslinger unlocked right from the start. But if you didn’t, don’t worry, as unlocking the archetype is simple. First, you need to have completed three biomes, including The Labyrinth. This means defeating the world boss of each of the three biomes.
Once you’ve beaten three biomes, return to Ward 13 and head over to Mudtooth, one of the old men sitting opposite Cass’s shop. Talk to Mudtooth, and ask him to tell you a story. He’ll start telling you one of his stories, which you can simply spam the spacebar to skip if you want. Once that story is done, keep asking him to tell you stories until he runs out, and rewards you with the Worn Cylinder item. This can take a few minutes, so don’t give up if you find that he won’t give it to you.
Take the Worn Cylinder and head to Wallace in the docks. Talk to him and you’ll be able to craft the Worn Cylinder into an Iron Cylinder in exchange for 10 Lumenite Crystals and 1,000 scrap. Equip the Iron Cylinder in your Engram slot, and you’ll have unlocked the Gunslinger archetype, both in your current and any subsequent playthroughs.
