Crosshair Placement

While everyone can shoot in the game, not all have good aim. With that said, the first step in having a good aim is to have a pitch-perfect crosshair placement. A player’s crosshair placement plays a major role in determining if they will hit their shots and whether or not they can take out their opponents.

If a player’s crosshair is too far off target, they will miss their shots and will be unable to take out their opponents. On the other hand, if a player’s crosshair is perfectly placed on their opponent’s skull, they’ll be able to outgun them without even giving them a fighting chance.

To get an idea at a good crosshair placement, stand in front of a barricaded door and aim as high as ¾ of the door’s height. Refer to the picture below.

Listening Carefully

Listening is crucial in Rainbow Six Siege because it allows players to gain intel on their opponents’ positions and strategies. Everything you do in Rainbow Six Siege gives out a sound, even if you’re slow walking or moving while lying prone. So, be attentive and try getting sound cues such as footsteps, gunshots, and other noises that can give away an opponent’s position.

Listening is also a great way to determine when to make an attack or defend yourself against an enemy, as well as when to rotate between objectives. If you hear someone reloading, that’s your time to aggress on someone since the player is a sitting duck.

Don’t Frequently Change Your Sensitivity

Changing your sensitivity frequently, not only in R6S but in any FPS, isn’t a good idea since it can lead to unreliable aiming and inconsistency. If you keep changing your settings, you won’t be able to get used to one particular sensitivity value, and you won’t be able to develop muscle memory or get a good feel for your aim.

There will also be no way to tell if your aim is improving or not, and you won’t be able to develop the same type of accuracy and precision as you could if you just stuck to one sensitivity setting. That said, try to find a sensitivity setting that works for you and stick to it, and after a while, you’ll notice some of those eye-pleasing flicks that will help you clutch the round for your team.

Unfortunately, though, there is no easy way to find the ideal sensitivity for you. You’ll just have to tinker with the settings and see what feels right. If you’re switching from some other first-person shooter whose sensitivity you were comfortable with, you can try out online sensitivity converters for Rainbow Six Siege if that helps.

Don’t Be Greedy For Kills

Rainbow Six Siege is a team game, and it should be played like that. Being kill-greedy in R6S isn’t something we recommend because it disrupts the team dynamic, breaks down communication, and ultimately leads to a loss.

When players prioritize kills over objectives, they often forget to communicate and coordinate with their team while making their plays. With a lack of coordination and communication, the enemy team will be able to take control of the objective more easily.

Additionally, kill-greedy players can be more easily flanked and eliminated since they’re always out of position trying to satiate their kill hunger. Ultimately, if you’re dying or being out of position due to being kill-greedy, you’re not only putting your team at a distinct disadvantage but are also risking the whole round.

Make Yourself Useful After Dying In A Round

You aren’t completely useless in Siege after you’ve died in a round. Here are some things you can do that can help your team, even after you’ve taken a bullet to the head:

  1. Don’t Backseat The Game – Imposing your ideas has rarely worked in the history of mankind, let alone a video game. Let your teammates do whatever they’re doing without bossing them around. Either they’ll learn from their mistakes or actually pull off something sick.
  1. Watch Cams – After you’ve died in a round, switch to cams if you’re defending and allies drone if you’re on the attack. This will allow your team to focus on their game while you provide them with fresh intel.
  1. Be The Lead Callout – While we don’t recommend backseat gaming, you can still give callouts to your fellow teammates. However, do it in an accurate way that won’t throw off your allies. Moreover, don’t start dictating your thoughts if there’s a clutch situation. Rather, just provide vital information as summed up as possible.
