There are two types of Pokemon trainers that play Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The first type consists of trainers who want to be the very best. They look for the strongest Pokemon regardless of their looks.

The second time, however, is for those trainers that care about the look and aesthetics of the Pokemon in their party. Petilil and its evolution, Lilligant both appeal to the second type.

Although they aren’t too strong and have way too many type weaknesses to their name, they both look so good that you can’t help but forget all of that. Plus, while not recommended for late or post game, Lilligant especially can more than carry its weight up until mid game, but evolving a Petilil into Lilligant isn’t as straight forward as it may seem.

How to Get Petilil
Petilil can be found near the hills of the South Province’s Area Four due to the grassy environment attracting the petal Pokemon, as well as along the coastline of the West Province’s Areas One and Two.

If you would rather directly catch the evolved form of Petilil, Lilligant, then that’s also doable, although it’s significantly harder due to it being a rare encounter. It sometimes spawns in the Southern Province’s Area Six, and the Northern Province’s Area Three, so those two locations should be where you begin your search.

How to Evolve Petilil into Lilligant
The only way to evolve Petilil into Lilligant is by using a sunstone on the little petal Pokemon, which is an evolutionary item that gets consumed as soon as you use it. There is no level requirement as to when you can use this stone, however, we recommend you get Petilil to at least level 42 before you use it to ensure it first so it can learn the exceptional move Leaf Storm first.

How to Find Sun Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Trainers have two ways of acquiring sun stones in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. They aren’t purchasable from Delibird Presents, unfortunately.

The first way to get it is by completing the unlock challenge for Artazon Gym: Brassius, which is the grass type gym. As part of the unlock challenge to fight the gym leader, you’ll be tasked with catching 10 Sunflora around the town. Catch them and defeat the Sunflora at the center of the town that runs away from you and a sun stone will be added to your inventory.

Secondly, there’s a chance that a sun stone might be available at the Auction House at Porto Marinada. The auction system is different than simply buying from a shop, as other bidders will offer to purchase items too and you’ll have to outbid them. If you don’t get the sun stone, then wait until the next in game day and try again.
