As they say, a dog is a man’s best friend, and the same could be said for the Pokemon world. Growlithe and Arcanine are both the best of boys, with Arcanine being one of the coolest Pokemon out there.
Not only is Arcanine cool, but it’s also the partner Pokemon of Officer Jenny in the anime. Additionally, while it isn’t an actual legendary Pokemon like, say, the legendary birds or Mew, its Pokedex entry calls it ‘The Legendary Chinese Pokemon’ in more than one game.
The Growlithe family returns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, where the evolution method is the same as it always has been.

Where to Find Growlithe in Pokemon Scarlet?
According to the Paldean Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Growlithe lives in Eastern Paldea. Once there, it shouldn’t be too hard to spot one of them running around in the wild just asking to be caught.
If you aren’t able to find one when riding on your Legendary mount in the East Province, try going to either Area Two of that same province and looking there specifically, or try North Province’s Area One, where it can also be seen.
If you would rather catch Arcanine, the evolved form of Growlithe instead, then that’s also a viable option. Although much rarer than Growlithe, Arcanine can be found in Areas One and Two of the North Province.
How to Evolve Growlithe in Pokemon Scarlet?
Evolving Growlithe is easy, but you might have difficulties if you don’t know the exact method. Players that have played the older Pokemon games will know that Growlithe has always used a fire stone to evolve into Arcanine.
Well, it’s no different in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. All you have to do is get a fire stone, use it on your Growlithe, and that’s it. There are no level or other requirements either so you can do this at any time.
How to Get Fire Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
There are multiple ways of acquiring a firestone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but the easiest and most convenient method by far is simply purchasing one for 3000 Poke Dollars from the Delibird Presents Shop, which could be found in the three main cities in Paldea.
As long as you have defeated at least three gym leaders, the first generation evolution stones, (which include the fire stone) will be available to purchase.
Alternatively, it’s also possible to get firestones either as a reward for progressing in the Pokedex, or by finding some scattered around Paldea. However, both these methods take more time and effort.
Stat Comparison of Growlithe and Arcanine
Seeing as how both Growlithe and Arcanine were both parts of the original 151 Pokemon back in the Kanto games, it’s really nice to see them still being available in newer games for a whole new generation of Pokemon trainers to see.
