The Paldea Region is home to 400 unique Pokémons, and trainers are bound to meet familiar faces from previous installments. This includes Axew which was once introduced in the Generation V. This pocket monster has a seaweed green horn at the back of its head, and a pair of tusks protruding on either side of its head. Despite being a dragon-type Pokémon, its appearance is deemed to be hardly scary. However, this is not the case for the rest of its evolutionary family. After a few battles and candies, you’ll be witnessing Axew turn into its frightening form.

Make sure to bring the right team if you’re planning to catch Axew. Axew is much more vulnerable to Ice, Fairy and Dragon-type attacks, and using it against it might make it faint, completely removing your chances of getting one of those. Ideally, you will want to use attacks that won’t kill Axew in one hit and try to lower its HP before tossing your Pokeball. This also applies to its evolutionary successors.

There’s no need to meet several requirements similar to that of Special Evolutions, so all you have to do is continue joining battles, Tera Raid Battles, and using rare candies or EXP candies.

Can you get Fraxure and Haxorus without evolving Axew?
The answer is yes and no.
If you’re not a fan of Axew’s charming appearance and want to go straight into having Fraxure on your team, you can find these in the colder areas of the map; the northern part and at the foot of Glaseado Mountain, and North Province (Area One). Fraxure also shares the same weakness as the Axew, so use the same types of attack to catch one of these.
