The Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event is upon us, promising plenty of seasonal cheer, new challenges, rewards, and four time-limited arcade game modes to get us in the festive spirit.
Here, we’ll break down all four arcade game modes available to sample in the Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event. To fire up any of the four modes, tap Play from the home menu and navigate to Arcade, then Winter Brawls.
Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland Game Modes
Freeze Thaw Elimination
Coined Overwatch 2’s ‘version of freeze tag’ by Blizzard, Freezethaw Elimination is a fast-paced elimination game mode with a twist. The goal is to freeze the enemy team by eliminating them. It’s a 4v4 format, and frozen teammates can be unthawed to get them back into the action.
Yeti Hunter
Yeti Hunter is a 5v1 raid-boss fight. One player suits up as the Yeti and is tasked with nabbing food from the local village. The other players – all playing as Mei – must stamp out the Yeti’s thieving by laying down traps and freezing them. To spice things up, the Yeti goes into a rage if he steals enough munch, making them rather more challenging to handle.
Snowball Deathmatch
In the Winter Wonderland Snowball Deathmatch game mode, players swap bullets for those spherical clumps of snow colloquially known as snowballs. As a further twist on the classic deathmatch, all eight players jump in as Mei in a free-for-all, no holds barred tussle, with the first to 15 eliminations crowned the winner.
Mei’s Snowball Offensive
Mei’s Snowball Offensive is identical to Snowball Deathmatch, except players play in teams of 6, all as Mei. Frost and ice are swapped out for snowballs, and the team with the highest elimination tally wins.
That covers it for the Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland game modes. We also have a breakdown of the challenges and rewards that form part of the Winter Wonderland festivities, so check that out if you want to know how to unlock the exclusive skin for the event.
