Custom game modes breathe even more life into Overwatch 2. From aim trainers to boost your performance to wacky modes created by enthusiastic fans, there’s a lot to sink your teeth into. There’s a dizzying variety on offer so we cherry-picked the best ones we’ve encountered so far. Here are our recommended custom game codes you should definitely try out.
Our best custom game codes
We picked these codes based on how entertaining their premises were, how fun they were to play in, and if they had solid replayability potential. Here are the custom games we recommend along with their codes:
- Kill to Grow code: RONRY
- Reworked 2.0 code: 50N8F
- Roller Coaster code: 40M5M
- Ana Paintball code: 1DMTZ
- Lava Parkour code: BJEPK, 700ST
- Overrealm code: KQ9Q7
- Genji Dodgeball code: VYDBB
Kill to Grow code: RONRY
It didn’t take long for me to grow fond of this mode, pardon the pun. Effectively, securing kills increases the size of your character model, making you an easier target for everyone in-game. The Kill to Grow mode quickly grew in popularity and you can bring friends along to experience this mayhem together. While growing does boost your health, it also makes you slower in combat. And without obstacles for cover, you need to keep moving to stay alive. If you’re just entering a match, you can rely on a safe zone to avoid instant eliminations. Unfortunately, its treasure hunt and quest systems don’t work anymore. But it’s still a fun custom mode.
Reworked 2.0 code: 50N8F
If you’ve grown tired of the current meta with respect to heroes and their abilities, user MushaSnazz has a neat custom game mode for you. It overhauls most of the base game’s mechanics, offering unique ways to play characters that you’ve grown fond of. And there’s more than just balance changes to look out for. Some heroes have entirely new abilities that reshape the meta and allow for new playstyles and tactics to be explored. Reworked 2.0 is a good time, especially if the regular seasonal content has grown stale.
Roller Coaster code: 40M5M
Roller Coaster is a relaxing way to check out some of the maps from the original Overwatch. It spawns the player at a location where you can board an Orisa by interacting with it, turning it into a form of transportation on rails. It’ll let you stay for as long as you like, letting you see the map from a different perspective as the winding loop of rails takes you through it. It’s a unique option that some streamers use between matches instead of sticking to the loading screen.
Ana Paintball code: 1DMTZ
In this custom game mode, everyone gets to play as the sniper Ana. You’ll be engaged in tense duels against other Ana opponents scattered across the map. Considering that you only need a single hit to down a foe, you can try no-scoping as well. Its headshots are a fun distraction from the objective-oriented modes of Overwatch 2.
Lava Parkour code: BJEPK, 700ST
When it comes to parkour, not all characters are equal. Some offer mobility buffs and traversal options that make movement easier. So naturally, parkour challenges to unlock heroes make for an interesting progression system. Lava Parkour does exactly that, with clear directions to reach objectives without dying to the red spheres. It can take hours to master but it’s a nice change in pace from simply shooting at things. Challenges will take advantage of mobility options like Cassidy’s roll or Brigitte’s shield ability. The codes above will take you to the Castillo and Route 66 variants of Lava Parkour.
Overrealm code: KQ9Q7
Inspired by Paladins, this game mode features unique power-ups and an event system to gain powerful boosts in combat. You even get invisibility modifiers and random effects that can alter how a match proceeds. It’s a meticulous upgrade to Overwatch 2’s standard systems and is well worth your time. The custom game mode’s MOBA inspirations help it stand out from the other workshop games on this list.
Genji Dodgeball code: VYDBB
This neat minigame from user Mazawrath is clearly inspired by Pyro Dodgeball from Team Fortress 2. Here’s how it works. Red balls of energy lock onto your character, forcing you to rely on your deflect ability to survive. If you have a target in mind, deflect the ball accordingly. Use the bounce pads to make yourself a harder target. You’ll score points by being the last person standing, ensuring that you’ll be a part of some intense matches. The mode even has anti-cheat in place and updates have ensured that it’s a balanced and even playing field. We’ve also covered the best aim training map codes if you want to train your aim beforehand.
How to use workshop codes
Here’s how you can use the above codes for your custom games:
- Launch Overwatch 2. Head over to Custom Games after selecting Play on the main menu.
- Here, pick the Settings option and select “Import code.”
- Enter one of the codes above and press Okay. Now return to the previous screen and select Play to enter this map in Blizzard Entertainment’s hero shooter.
