Wetwork is Modern Warfare 2’s first mission featuring Captain Price, further drawing Task Force 141 into the game’s sprawling story.
In Wetwork, you’ll be switching control from Soap and Ghost to catch up with Price and Gaz in Amsterdam. This mission has a heavy stealth focus, as you move silently through the water, taking out enemy agents, before reaching a fortified barge and extracting the information within.
We’ll walk you through Wetwork and help you get Gaz and Price through this mission in one piece.

Modern Warfare 2: Wetwork Setup
Wetwork begins from Gaz’s perspective, with Price guiding you to your target on the barge, docked in Amsterdam waters. Gaz is armed with throwing knives, a p890 silenced pistol, and the ability to quietly dive and resurface to avoid detection. This is all you’ll need to pick off the guards without breaking stealth.
If enemies are alerted, don’t worry too much. Gaz’s tools are deadly enough that you can still fight your way through, on or off dry land as needed,
The opening stretch of Wetwork allows you to take out the AQ guards as you see fit. But all enemies must be dealt with before you can move on to the objective. The throwing knife is the ideal tool here. When aimed correctly it’s a one-hit kill, and knives can be retrieved as reusable ammo. This will necessitate moving over to wherever the body you just dropped fell, so make sure there are no other enemies around and you’ve got clear access to cover.

Modern Warfare 2: Wetwork Walkthrough
To begin, Price will point out a single AQ guard on a jetty. This is an easy target to take out with a throwing knife. With this first enemy dispatched, turn your attention to the patrol boat circling nearby. If wounded at any point, dive back under the water until your health regen kicks in.
The patrol boat contains two enemies, but if you’re quick with your knives you can take both out in short succession. Briefly climb into the patrol boat to retrieve your knives, and pick up a dropped Lachmann Sub for superior – albeit noisier – firepower. Thankfully, the Lachmann Sub is still capable of picking enemies off at long range in this level without immediately drawing attention.
After taking out the boat, a single guard is posted on a jetty to the right, and three are guarding a second jetty to the left. Take out the rightmost guard with a throwing knife first, then deal with the others as you see fit.
Another patrol boat will soon pull up, but throwing knives prevent the guards from locating your position when taking their partner out. Climb onto the boat and use it as a vantage point to dispatch the group of guards beyond. The Lachmann Sub will swiftly drop them, allowing you to move forward and to the right, taking out a final set of guards and clearing the way for Gaz and Price to enter the barge,, getting close to completing Wetwork in Modern Warfare 2.
Barging In
Price and Gaz proceed into the barge, and Price will automatically kill two cartel members in the cabin. Move downstairs and take out the other cartel members in the rooms beyond. Pick up a Bryson 800 Shotgun or a Kastov-74u to make the close-quarters job much easier.
Proceed down the corridor and clear the two rooms to the left, and then all that’s left is the bathroom. Open the door to ambush the final cartel member.
From the cartel member’s body, you’ll retrieve a phone with details of a meeting between the cartel and AQ, completing the Wetwork mission in Modern Warfare 2.
