After a successful Closed Alpha test, Marvel Rivals is back in a new Closed Beta. While access is still restricted, you can use invite codes to get in or help a friend try out NetEase Games’ 6v6 hero shooter. Despite these restrictions, the game hit Steam’s top 30 most-played games list pretty quickly. That puts it ahead of popular titles like Battlefield 2042 and Helldivers 2. Here’s how you can get a code or grant access to a friend.
How to get beta access codes
If you want to join the Marvel Rivals playtest that runs till August 5, 2024, you have three options. These will let you or a friend enter the action even if you didn’t have Closed Alpha access or didn’t sign up for the playtest. All heroes in the roster will be unlocked for a limited time as well. Here’s how you can get beta access codes:
- Use a friend code to invite players
- Watch supported streams for Twitch Drops
- Keep an eye on official socials
How to get a friend code to invite players
If a friend has reached level six in the game, they can select the “Invite Code” option in the in-game event page to grant you an extra code. These are limited in number and refresh at 12 AM UTC time. While you can only claim one free code this way, it’ll let you bring another teammate into the game. You can then use team up combos with characters like Hela and Loki or the Punisher and Rocket Raccoon for enhanced abilities during matches.
How to get a beta key from Twitch Drops
If you don’t have a friend who is already playing the beta, you can rely on Twitch Drops as well. Simply enable Twitch Drops on your account and watch an hour of content from the Marvel Rivals category. You’ll need to do this between July 25 to 28, 2024. Once you do so, head to the official site to claim your beta key. Remember to pick your platform of choice, be it PC (Steam), PS5, or Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation 5 keys are region-specific so you won’t be able to use them across different regions.
You can enter the official Marvel Rivals Discord or follow their X (formerly Twitter) account to keep an eye out for more codes. It’s not as reliable as the first two options but it’ll let you nab a code without much effort if you happen to find some. Try the above methods first and if they don’t work, scout out their social media channels for a chance at a single-use key for the Overwatch-like hero shooter.
How to redeem invite codes
Once you get a code, there’s a different process involved in redeeming it on a platform of your choice. In Steam, simply head to Games and pick the “Activate a product on Steam” option before entering a code. If you’re on a PS5, head to the PlayStation Store after signing into your account. Here, pick the “Redeem Code” option and enter your code. And if you’re an Xbox player, head to the Store and press the View button to open the side menu. Here, enter your code in the “Redeem” section.
