Renowned for his unmatched force and control over Thunder, Thor’s importance in Marvel Rivals is great since it allows players to use Mjolnir’s might and apply Asgard’s forces. Thor enters Marvel Rivals not just as a strong Vanguard but also as a character with special team-up power capable of reversing the course of battle. For instance, his Thunderous Deity team-up with Storm highlights the synergy among Marvel heroes by magnifying the damage output of both characters.

Players can now experiment with fresh tactics using Thor’s massive damage potential and defensive qualities to rule games. His addition as a Vanguard enhances the game’s dynamic roster by allowing Marvel universe fans to battle alongside or against some of the most legendary characters in comic history, thus redefining Thor.

If you’re looking to play as the God of Thunder in Rivals and make the best of it, here are the best tips and abilities you need to use.

Thor abilities in Rivals

Thor is a true tank in Marvel Rivals as his Mjolnir Bash strikes are deadly to weaker DPS heroes with low health. However, when you truly awaken his Thorforce, it opens a gate to numerous abilities that can easily overpower enemies. All of his abilities are listed in the table below:

How to use Thor in Marvel Rivals

Thor’s gameplay centers around Thorforce, a passive ability that offers bonus health when activated. You will notice little hammer icons representing your Thorforce charges on the screen. Each ability that utilizes these charges grants you 100 additional health, with the Awakening Rune granting 200. Always keep at least one charge in reserve for critical situations.

From there, use the Storm Surge ability to begin your engagements with the enemy team. This skill allows you to leap forward and quickly close the gap on enemies. It’s ideal for both dive maneuvers and escapes when things become too heated. Remember that the longer you charge it, the farther you’ll travel, so use it strategically for positioning or pursuing fleeing opponents.

Once in combat, use Lightning Realm to slow down enemies and replenish Thorforce depending on how many enemies you defeat. This not only aids resource management but also controls the battlefield. Mjolnir Bash, your primary attack, is essential for dealing constant damage and regenerating Thorforce, whereas Hammer Throw deals ranged damage, which is effective for taking down weaker enemies from a distance.

However, save the Awakening Rune for key situations as it greatly increases your damage output and survivability, making it perfect for zone control or finishing off any nearby enemies. Lastly, Thor’s ultimate, God of Thunder, is most effective when enemies are clustered or you can surprise them from above, which is devastating, but also exposes you while charging, so time it properly.

Lastly, his team-up abilities with Captain America and Storm don’t really give him an advantage in combat, but when teamed up with Hela, he gets a free revive only if she can get an elimination quickly after his death in Rivals.
