Jeff the Land Shark has been the surprise hit of Marvel Rivals, with the Strategist character at the heart of the Winter Celebration, where you can earn a free skin for the character. The Winter Celebration has introduced quite a bit to Rivals but will only be available for a limited time, so you must dive in and earn your rewards whilst you can. Below, we’ve outlined what’s included in this new update and how you can earn yourself the Cuddly Fuzzlefin skin for Jeff that equips him with ski goggles, a puffer jacket and a scarf. We’ll also list when this event ends so you know just how long you’ve got to earn the rewards.

The Winter Celebration began on December 20, introducing free and paid-for skins, most notably the free skin for Jeff the Land Shark. It also introduced a new arcade mode, Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival, a game in which two teams of four Jeffs are on a map, trying to cover as much of the map in one colour before the timer runs out, hopefully having more map covered than your opponent. It’s very Splatoon and also very fun. It offers a perfect opportunity for anyone to learn how to play Jeff.
How to unlock the free Jeff the Land Shark skin
Jeff’s new skin is unlocked by playing the latest arcade game mode that’s been introduced. Still, there is a bit more to it, so we’ve listed how to unlock the character’s skin below:
- From the home screen, select the Winter Celebration event page
- Play the new “Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival” arcade game which will reward players with Golden and Silver Frost by completing objectives (these can be found in the objective section of the menus)
- Use your Frost to buy decorations for your tree, with each decoration worth 100 points
- Once you’ve got all five decorations, you’ll earn 500 points which will allow you to redeem the new Jeff skin

When does the Marvel Rivals Winter Celebration end?
The Winter Celebration in Marvel Rivals will last until January 9, 2025, giving players 20 days to earn the free skin for Jeff the Land Shark and enjoy the game’s new mode.
